Procurement has always been about more than cost to me. It’s about the quality of decisions, the strength of the relationships behind them, and finding outcomes that genuinely work for both sides – not just the best price, but the best result overall. Even small commercial changes can create meaningful impact when they’re built on that kind of mutual value, not just a harder negotiation. I care about the short-term and long-term outcomes for the organisations I’m privileged to support.
I started my career as a procurement apprentice, and spent the thirteen years since progressing through increasingly complex commercial environments, building genuine specialism across IT, Software, Indirects, FM, and Professional Services spend. I’ve developed category strategies and built procurement processes from a standing start, for organisations with no existing commercial infrastructure.
I want to grow with my clients. Support them. Help them build something stronger and more commercially resilient. And deliver work that makes a genuine, lasting difference – for every single engagement, without exception.
I set up McKean Procurement Consultancy to work directly with growing businesses like these – I’m genuinely invested in helping them build something stronger, with the kind of senior-level attention they might not have had easy access to before. That’s the gap I wanted to fill, and it’s what drives every engagement I take on.
These are not values written for a website. They are the way I have always operated – and the standard every client can hold me to.
I do not believe in one-size-fits-all procurement. Every business I work with is different – different stage, different pressures, different priorities. I take the time to understand your specific situation and build something that actually fits it.
When you work with me, you are not hiring a consultant to produce a report. You are gaining a senior commercial partner who is genuinely invested in your success and always straightforward with you. How you buy matters, too – the suppliers you choose and the standards you hold them to say something about what your business values. I care about that.
Good procurement is about more than saving money. It is about the quality of the decisions you make, the strength of the relationships you build with your suppliers, and the long-term commercial health of your organisation.
I am here to help you get the best possible outcomes from your spend and supplier relationships. Not just cost reduction - total commercial value. Quality, performance, and risk all feed into the price you actually pay – a cheap contract that breaks down in year two isn't a saving.
I take genuine pride in the quality of my thinking, my analysis, and my deliverables and results. Every engagement is grounded in deep insight and focused on outcomes that create lasting, measurable impact.
I love working with people. I work as a trusted, approachable extension of your team - not a distant voice delivering a document. Clear communication, genuine care, and full commitment from first conversation to final deliverable.
I operate with complete honesty and transparency - always focused on doing what is right for your organisation and following through on the commitment I make.
